Ukraine consistently has been contributing to combating global climate change and supporting international community efforts aimed at limiting and reduction of anthropogenic emissions and increasing of GHG absorption in the atmosphere

Ukraine is the only country that received the World Bank grant at the second PMR Assembly meeting that took place on October 27-28 in Istanbul. In total, seven countries-participants of the World Bank project "Partnership for market readiness" (PMR) made their presentations at the Assembly meeting.

In the framework of the meeting Ukraine is going to promote the preservation of its status as economy in transition and the right to draw on new low carbon technologies through International foundations. Also, Ukraine's representative plans to introduce a proposal to consolidate the right of economies in transition to draw on technologies as well as to engage in technology transfer to developing countries.

Enforcement branch of implementation of the Kyoto Protocol UNFCCC at a hearings on Aug. 25 on the consideration of national inventory of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases for 1990-2008 adopted preliminary conclusions regarding the compliance of Ukraine under the requirements of the Kyoto Protocol.

On 8 June the National inventory report of anthropogenic emissions by sources and removals by sinks of greenhouse gases for 1990-2009 has been submitted to the Secretariat of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (hereinafter UNFCCC) by the SEIA as it is provided under the UNFCCC and Kyoto Protocol to it. English unofficial translation of the document was given on July 15.

On the 3 of June the Secretariat of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change issued the conclusion of the expert review team on the review of the National Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Removals by Sinks Inventory of Ukraine for 1990-2008. It contains a number of grave observations concerning the preparation of the document.
